They are not a substitute for the truck’s capacity data plate and operator manual, a qualified trainer, or a competent engineer, and they don’t certify that any lift, layout, or route is safe. How the Numbers Are Estimated
Each calculator applies a standard formula or rule of thumb to the figures you enter — the load-center moment balance for derated capacity, length ÷ 2 for a uniform load center, battery energy over average draw for runtime, footprint times an aisle factor for storage, rate times consumption for operating cost, and rise over run for ramp grade. These are idealizations. They assume evenly distributed loads, nominal ratings, representative duty, and standard conditions — things real trucks, loads, and sites only approximate.
Where a Result Might Not Fit Your Job
A result is more likely to miss the mark if a load is unevenly packed or shifts, an attachment changes the load center and adds weight, the lift is high or the mast tilted, a battery is aged or cold, the truck’s duty cycle differs from your assumption, the racking or floor has its own limits, or the surface and environment differ from the ideal. In any of these cases, treat the output as a starting point to verify on the actual equipment, not a final answer.
Follow the Truck’s Data Plate and Manual
Every forklift has a capacity data plate and an operator manual that give the authoritative rated capacities, load centers, gradeability, and handling and safety requirements for that specific truck and attachment. Where our general estimate and the data plate disagree, the data plate wins. No one should operate a forklift without the training and certification required where they work.
